If a building's soil conditions allow, concrete piers are an excellent option to redistribute the foundations load into stable and compact soils. Concrete pier supports are a relatively cost effective application for stabilizing your building long-term.

How Concrete Piers Work

1. Expose Footer
Approximately 2ft x 2ft holes are dug at every 6ft to expose the footer and insert the 12inch x 6inch concrete pilings.
2. Hydraulic Jack
Insert a hydraulic jack that is connected to an electric pump to push the piers down through the soft soil media.
3. Push Piers to Depth
Using the hydraulic pump, the piers are pushed to the point of refusal (where the soil is dense enough to support the foundation and the pier cannot push down any further.)
*To prevent the piers from slipping, we use rebar inserts to connect them.
4. Place Concrete Cap
The concrete cap adapts the single concrete pier column to two primary support pilings. One piling is placed on one side, while the hydraulic jack is used to get the concrete pier to its final position.
5. Final Adjustments
Once the Concrete Pier has been placed to final depth, we use galvanized steel shims to make the final adjustments and distribute the foundation load onto the pier.
6. Foundation is Supported
The concrete piers are placed at every 6-8ft to get the foundation on solid footing.
